Yes, I’m a bit bummed we didn’t get a bunch of gorgeous red-carpet photos of him, but let’s keep two things in mind here, put things in perspective.

1 - Did anyone hear/see Benedict himself say “I am going to be on the red carpet at the Oscars?” It was all second-hand snippets from publicists and tailors, as far as I know.

2 - The event he is at is a spectacularly good cause, and far more socially aware than the Oscars themselves.

I’m sure we’ll still get lots of lovely photos, and he’s still getting plenty of spectacular networking and exposure time with US media bigwigs. It’s all good. So please, stop acting like he owes us something or that you’ve been personally slighted by this misunderstanding.

I wasn’t really that upset at not seeing him at the Oscars. I mean, yeah, I REALLY wanted to see him. I was glued to my TV. But, I had no idea that he was at an AIDS charity event.

This just makes me have more admiration and love for this man.
